...that the award for the world’s shortest rear wiper doesn’t actually belong to the Prius C. Rather, the new DS 5 from our dear friend Citroen takes the prize.

There was a time when Citroen would have made some daft contraption that would actually work rather than slap on that terrible excuse for a wiper.

Yeah, like a vertical bus style wiper that somehow went across the entire window or something...it wouldn’t have worked very well, if ever, but at least the inspiration would be there instead of this useless three inch stub...and what can you expect, it is French after all...

Look at the window, don’t think they need a bigger one. Do they even need one?

Our DS4 also has a comically small rear wiper, maybe the same one!

What happened to the old Citroen? There isn’t enough insane engineering going on here. I’d expect like three wiper blades that size with complex synchronization to wipe a much larger area...

Arguably I’d say you’d need two or three like the Camry wagons of yore...

Since they are French that would be to easy.

Looks like it...on a side note, how are you enjoying the DS4? It’s one of those cars we hear about in the US but never experience in real life...

It’s actually really good, a lot better than I was expecting (it wasn’t my choice, the Abarth is the car I picked!) but it has exceeded my expectations considering it’s basically just a prettified jacked up Citroen C4! It does look good (ours is the same colour as the one in your pic, hickory brown but ours has the 19” black and silver alloys), it’s the ranging topping D-Sport model with the 1.6 turbo petrol 200hp engine so it’s really well kitted out (heated, massaging seats, premium audio, sat nav, park assist, bi-xenon’s that also turn when you go round bends, auto everything etc plus really nice 2 tone, dark red and dark grey, leather. It’s not the most exciting car to drive but it hustles along nicely, is very comfy on long trips, has been so far (touch wood) very reliable, cheap to service, gets good mpg’s when not thrashing it and always gets comments off people about how nice it is. It does have some weird Citroen quirks like the windows in the rear doors that don’t open and there are no rear vents either but as we rarely have people in the back it doesn’t bother us!
